Dow Gains 50 Points; US Small Business Optimism Index Rises In May

Stephens analyst Pooran Sharma reiterated the Overweight rating on Caseys General Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CASY#NASDAQ">CASY</a>), <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CASY/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">with a price forecast of $490.</a>
On June 9, the company reported fourth-quarter financial results for fiscal 2025 with revenue of&nbsp;$3.99 billion, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/earnings/25/06/45849848/caseys-general-stores-stock-rises-on-q4-earnings-beat" rel="noreferrer noopener">versus&nbsp;estimates&nbsp;of $3.93 billion</a>.
Sharma pointed out that operating expenses came in above expectations, driven by increased per-store operating costs (excluding credit card fees) and higher-than-anticipated credit card charges.

The company also issued FY26 guidance, projecting EBITDA growth of 11% at the midpoint, slightly below the Street&#8217;s estimate of 14%. Caseys expects total operating expense growth to be around 9% at the midpoint. Compare that to the consensus forecasts of approximately 10%.
Sharma called the financial period a &#8220;good quarter,&#8221; observing that same-store fuel volumes slightly exceeded expectations, rising 0.1% year over year compared to the flat forecast.
Retail fuel margins increased by 37.6 cents per gallon, versus the expected 35.5 cents.
For FY26, management guided to inside same-store sales growth of 2.0% to 5.0%, inside margins near 41%, same-store fuel volumes between -1% and +1%, and operating expenses rising 8% to 10%. Full-year EBITDA is projected to grow 10% to 12% year-over-year.

Caseys Enjoys 'Good Quarter,' Analyst Praises Steady Fuel Volumes

U.S. stocks ticked up on Tuesday, with investors closely watching for potential progress in ongoing U.S.-China trade negotiations <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">taking place in London.</a>
By midday in New York, the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq 100 were both up 0.4%, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq reaching levels last seen on Feb. 21 — now just 1.5% below its record high.
Small caps extended their recent outperformance versus large caps for a fourth straight session. The Russell 2000 is now testing key resistance at its 200-day moving average, a closely watched technical level.
Among sectors, energy led the gains, fueled by rising crude and gasoline prices. West Texas Intermediate crude climbed nearly 1% to $66 per barrel, the highest since April 4, 2025, amid an improving demand outlook.
In commodities, momentum faded outside of oil. Silver slipped 0.7% after recent strong gains, while gold held steady at $3,320 an ounce and copper remained flat.
Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar were little changed in a quiet session for economic data, as investors look ahead to Wednesday's Consumer Price Index report for May.
Economists expect inflation to accelerate to 2.5% year-over-year from April's 2.3%, potentially snapping a four-month cooling trend and influencing expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts. Futures markets continue to price in two rate cuts by year-end.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) dipped about 1% to $109,000, hovering roughly 2% below its all-time high.
