More than three-quarters of U.S. adults say they are not financially secure, a record share in Bankrate's latest Financial Freedom survey, as inflation and hiring freezes erode purchasing power and career prospects.
What Happened: The poll found 77% feel less than "completely financially secure," up from 75% last year and 72% in 2023, despite a cooling headline inflation rate.
One-quarter of respondents said they would need a $150,000 salary to feel comfortable, and 8% of that group raised the bar to $200,000–$499,999, while another 8% wanted at least $500,000. Median pay has not kept pace with prices. Average full-time, year-round earnings were $81,515 in 2023, well below the $150,000 that 26% of respondents say they would need to "feel financially secure/comfortable," Bankrate noted.

&#8220;Traditionally, when you did a lot of investment, it raised wages,&#8221; he said, while citing research by MIT economist Daron Acemoglu, who has shown that automation doesn't always lead to falling wages or lower investment, but it can shift the economy toward capital-intensive growth paths instead.
Rogoff concludes that this isn&#8217;t going to be a deflationary story like it&#8217;s being projected, while adding that &#8220;this could actually make life harder for central banks, not easier.&#8221;

The US military&#8217;s recent strikes on Iran&#8217;s nuclear facilities may not have been as devastating as initially claimed, according to a preliminary US intelligence assessment.
What Happened: The strikes on three of Iran&#8217;s nuclear sites last weekend did not completely destroy the core components of Iran&#8217;s nuclear program, as per an early US intelligence assessment, <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/06/24/politics/intel-assessment-us-strikes-iran-nuclear-sites">reported</a> by CNN on Tuesday. The assessment, produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency, suggests that the strikes likely only set back Iran&#8217;s nuclear program by a few months.
&#8220;So the (DIA) assessment is that the US set them back maybe a few months, tops,&#8221; said a source, according to CNN.
The analysis of the damage&nbsp;and the impact of the&nbsp;strikes on Iran&#8217;s nuclear ambitions is ongoing. However, the early findings contradict President&nbsp;Donald Trump&#8216;s claims that the strikes &#8220;completely and totally obliterated&#8221; Iran&#8217;s nuclear enrichment facilities.
Two sources familiar with the assessment stated that Iran&#8217;s&nbsp;stockpile of enriched uranium was&nbsp;not destroyed.
