Shares of retail stocks are trading higher after the US and China agreed to a temporary reduction in most tariffs on each other's goods. A reduction in tariffs could alleviate supply chain uncertainty and macroeconomic uncertainty and help boost consumer sentiment.

The ODP Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ODP#NASDAQ">ODP</a>) shares are trading higher on Wednesday after the first-quarter FY25 earnings. The company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/05/b45247761/the-odp-corporation-announces-first-quarter-2025-results">first-quarter revenue decline </a>of 9.1% year-on-year to $1.70 billion, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $1.67 billion.
The decrease in reported sales is largely related to lower sales in its Office Depot Division, primarily due to 46 fewer retail locations in service compared to the previous year and reduced retail and online consumer traffic, as well as lower sales in its ODP Business Solutions Division.

Gross profit decreased 11.8% to $360 million with a margin of 21.2%. Selling, general and administrative expenses dropped 10.3% to $306 million.
The company reported an operating loss of $32 million compared to an operating income of $41 million, a 178% decrease.
Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter decreased 16.5% to $76 million. Adjusted EPS of $1.06 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">beat the analyst consensus</a> estimate of $0.65. It fell 19% year-on-year from $1.31.
Operating cash flow for the quarter totaled $57 million with a free cash flow of $36 million. 
The company held $185 million in cash and equivalents as of March 29. Total debt was $262 million.
"We are off to a better start to the year, with our overall performance reflecting positive momentum and improving trends in the first quarter," said CEO Gerry Smith.
&#8220;We&#8217;re also closely monitoring the tariff environment, and while we are not immune to shifts in policy, we have taken actions to help mitigate potential impacts.&#8221;

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 200 points on Wednesday.
Shares of Rockwell Automation, Inc. Sales fell 6% year over year (Y/Y) and slid 4% organically to $2.001 billion, versus the consensus of $1.96 billion. Total ARR grew 8% Y/Y. Adjusted EPS was $2.45 (-2% Y/Y), above the analyst consensus of $2.09.

CAVA Group Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CAVA#NYSE">CAVA</a>) shares are trading higher Thursday following an announcement that the company will be <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/03/n44505072/cava-group-set-to-join-s-p-midcap-400-and-angi-to-join-s-p-smallcap-600">added to the S&amp;P MidCap 400</a>.
What Happened: After the market close on Wednesday, S&amp;P Dow Jones Indices announced a rebalancing of the S&amp;P MidCap 400 and S&amp;P SmallCap 600 indices.

The ODP Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ODP#NASDAQ">ODP</a>) shares are <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/movers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">trading lower on Wednesday.</a>
The company reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 66 cents, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/b43968631/the-odp-corporation-announces-fourth-quarter-and-full-year-2024-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">missing the street view of 80 cents</a>. Quarterly sales of $1.624 billion (down 10% year over year) outpaced the analyst consensus estimate of $1.610 billion.
Lower sales in its consumer division, Office Depot, was primarily due to lower retail and online consumer traffic and lower average order volumes, as well as 47 fewer stores in service compared to last year related to planned store closures.
Fourth quarter 2024 adjusted operating income was $32 million, down compared to $57 million in the fourth quarter of 2023.
&#8220;Our performance in 2024 was impacted by weak macroeconomic trends, subdued business and consumer activity, and effects from severe weather in the second half of the year,&#8221; said CEO Gerry Smith.

ODP Business Solutions Division&#8217;s operating income margin was 3%, down 70 basis points compared to the same period last year, while Office Depot Division&#8217;s operating income margin was 4%, down 100 basis points.
&#8220;Looking ahead to 2025, we plan to prioritize capital allocation toward our core business over share repurchases, focusing on high-return B2B growth opportunities that we believe will drive sustainable, long-term value for our shareholders,&#8221; said Adam Haggard, senior vice president and co-chief financial officer of ODP Corporation.
Adjusted Free Cash Flow&nbsp;was $(57) million in the fourth quarter, compared to $48 million in the prior year period.
The company exited the quarter with cash and equivalents worth $166 million.
Long-term debt (net of current maturities) expanded to $270 million from $165 million in the year-ago period.
