Jefferies Initiates Coverage On Signet Jewelers with Buy Rating, Announces Price Target of $102

Signet Jewelers Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIG#NYSE">SIG</a>) reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SIG/earnings">raised its FY26 guidance on Tuesday.</a>
The company posted revenue of $1.54 billion, a 2% increase from the prior year, surpassing analysts&#8217; consensus estimate of $1.49 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.18 beat the consensus estimate of $1.07.
"We delivered positive same-store sales growth each month of the quarter, and into May, by bolstering our offerings at key price points and continuing the evolution of our assortment. Our three largest brands – Kay, Zales, and Jared – all saw sequential comp sales improvement from the fourth quarter on higher margins, highlighting the impact of our outsized focus on our larger brands," stated J.K. Symancyk, Chief Executive Officer.
Signet raised its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $6.57 billion to $6.80 billion, up from $6.53 billion to $6.80 billion, compared with the consensus estimate of $6.69 billion.
The company increased its adjusted EPS forecast to $7.70 to $9.38, up from $7.31 to $9.10, versus the consensus of $8.45. It expects adjusted EBITDA between $615 million and $695 million, slightly higher than the prior range of $605 million to $695 million.
For the second quarter, Signet projects revenue of $1.47 billion to $1.51 billion, above the $1.34 billion estimate, and adjusted EBITDA of $53 million to $73 million.
Signet Jewelers shares fell 1.1% to close at $74.40 on Wednesday.

U.S. stock futures were slightly higher on Wednesday after advancing for two consecutive days. Futures of major benchmark indices rose slightly in premarket.
On Wednesday morning, a tariff increase signed by Donald Trump on Tuesday evening <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/topics/25/05/45708977/trump-doubles-steel-tariffs-to-50-saying-it-will-secure-american-jobs-backs-us-steels-takeover-by-japans-nippon">took effect</a>, raising duties on steel and aluminum imports from 25% to 50%, with the UK being the sole trading partner exempted from this hike. 
This latest action by the president intensifies ongoing trade disputes between the U.S. and major partners like China and the EU.
Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.47% and the two-year bond was at 3.96%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 98.7% likelihood of the Federal Reserve keeping the current interest rates unchanged in its June meeting.

The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, rose in premarket on Wednesday. The SPY was up 0.18% at $597.17, while the QQQ advanced 0.16% to $528.17, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.
Cues From Last Session:
Sectoral moves led U.S. stocks to close higher on Tuesday. Most S&amp;P 500 sectors ended positively, with energy, materials, and information technology stocks posting the largest gains.
However, communication services and real estate stocks defied the broader market trend, finishing the session in the red.
Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) shares soared approximately 3%. Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DG#NYSE">DG</a>) shares skyrocketed about 16% after the company announced stronger-than-anticipated first-quarter earnings and boosted its full-year forecast.
Signet Jewelers Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIG#NYSE">SIG</a>) shares climbed more than 12% on Tuesday following better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and an upward revision of its FY26 guidance.
On the economic data front, U.S. job openings grew by 191,000 to 7.391 million in April, surpassing market expectations of 7.10 million. New orders for U.S.-manufactured goods fell 3.7% month-over-month to $594.6 billion in April, compared to a 3.4% increase in March.
The Dow Jones index ended 214 points or 0.51% higher at 42,519.64, whereas the S&amp;P 500 index rose 0.58% to 5,970.37. Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.81% to 19,398.96, and the small-cap gauge, Russell 2000, gained 1.59% to end at 2,102.98.

Insights From Analysts:
Jim Cramer cautioned that President Trump's erratic trade policies are <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/06/45763260/jim-cramer-says-trump-is-distorting-pretty-much-everything-and-thats-making-it-difficult-to-value-stocks-people-would-just-rather-be-short">skewing stock valuations</a> and encouraging short sellers anticipating daily market drops. 
The host of CNBC's "Mad Money" stated that Trump's tariff threats and aggressive global stance are rendering accurate stock pricing almost unachievable.
"When you examine the market's mistakes, they share a common theme: the president's distorting pretty much everything, especially with his tariffs and his jingoistic approach to the rest of the world," reported CNBC.
He also explained that in such a situation, investors would rather be short as they expect the market to come down every day.
Talking about equities, analysts at BlackRock said in their weekly note that they have flipped back to being pro-risk in April.
This came after &#8220;it became clear that hard economic rules limit how far U.S. policy can move from the status quo, such as how foreign investors fund U.S. debt,&#8221; the note stated.
&#8220;Our U.S. equity overweight relies on that rule, just as another rule – supply chains can't rewire overnight without serious disruption – proved binding on trade policy. This overweight is grounded in the artificial intelligence mega force – reinforced by Nvidia's earnings beat last week,&#8221; BlackRock&#8217;s note stated.

Asian markets closed higher on Wednesday as India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex, Japan's Nikkei 225, South Korea's Kospi, Australia's ASX 200, China&#8217;s CSI 300, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng indices rose. European markets were also higher in early trade.

Dow Futures Edge Higher After Two Days Of Gains: Expert Says Trump Tariffs 'Distorting Pretty Much Everything'

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed some improvement in the overall market sentiment, while the index was in the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Tuesday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 200 points during the session. Shares of Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) surged around 3% on Tuesday.
Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DG#NYSE">DG</a>) shares jumped around 16% on Tuesday after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings and raised its full-year outlook. Shares of Signet Jewelers Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIG#NYSE">SIG</a>) rose more than 12% on Tuesday after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and raised its FY26 guidance.
On the economic data front, U.S. job openings increased by 191,000 to 7.391 million in April, compared to market expectations of 7.10 million. New orders for U.S.-manufactured goods declined 3.7% month-over-month to $594.6 billion in April, compared to a 3.4% gain in March.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with energy, materials and information technology stocks recording the biggest gains on Tuesday. However, communication services and real estate stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session lower.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 214 points to 42,519.64 on Tuesday. The S&amp;P 500 gained 0.58% to 5,970.37, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.81% to 19,398.96 during Tuesday's session.

At a current reading of 55.7, the index moved to the &#8220;Greed&#8221; zone on Tuesday, versus a prior reading of 54.3.

Nasdaq Surges Over 150 Points Amid Rise In Nvidia Shares: Investor Sentiment Improves, Fear Index In 'Greed' Zone

Wall Street posted modest midday gains on Tuesday, as investors digested the latest developments in President <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump's trade policy agenda.</a>
On Monday, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced a three-month suspension of the planned 25% Section 301 tariffs on Chinese imports, including chip-containing components such as GPUs, motherboards and solar panels.
Small-cap stocks outperformed large-cap peers, buoyed by signs of labor market resilience. Stronger-than-expected job openings and a decline in job quits for April suggested continued economic strength, easing recession concerns.
Job openings rose by 191,000 to 7.391 million in April, surpassing market expectations of 7.10 million. Meanwhile, job quits dropped by 150,000 to a four-month low of 3.194 million.
The Russell 2000 jumped 1.9%, while the S&amp;P 500 edged 0.7% higher. The small-cap index is on track for its sharpest day of relative outperformance since May 8.
The Nasdaq 100 climbed 1% to 21,700 — its highest level since Feb. 24 — with all-time highs now just 2.2% away.
Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DG#NYSE">DG</a>) outperformed all other S&amp;P 500 members following stronger-than-expected earnings and an upbeat outlook. The stock soared 14%, eyeing its strongest-performing session since the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/earnings/25/06/45746307/dollar-general-boosts-annual-outlook-despite-ongoing-tariff-uncertainty">company went public in 2009. </a>
The U.S. dollar strengthened after eurozone inflation came in below expectations, reinforcing bets that the European Central Bank will deliver another rate cut at its Thursday meeting. 
Treasury prices fell slightly, with 30-year yields inching up near the 5% mark amid persistent concerns over the U.S. fiscal outlook.
Gold eased 1%, pausing after Monday's strongest rally in nearly a month. Oil prices surged further on Tuesday, with WTI light crude hitting $63.6 a barrel — the highest in two weeks — and driving energy sector outperformance.
The past two sessions saw crude rising 5% amid Russian-related supply concerns following the Ukraine drone attack over the weekend.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) rose 0.5% to $106,000, continuing to trade within a tight range.

Signet Jewelers Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIG#NYSE">SIG</a>) shares are trading higher on Tuesday after the company reported stronger-than-expected <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/06/b45741674/signet-jewelers-reports-first-quarter-fiscal-2026-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">first-quarter 2025 earnings</a>.
The company posted revenue of $1.54 billion, a 2% increase from the prior year, surpassing analysts&#8217; consensus estimate of $1.49 billion.
Adjusted EPS of $1.18 beat the consensus estimate of $1.07.

Same-store sales climbed 2.5%, while merchandise average unit retail (AUR) rose about 8%.
North American sales reached $1.45 billion, up 2.1% year over year, with same-store sales increasing 2.3%. International segment sales grew 3.8% to $80.1 million, alongside a 4.5% rise in same-store sales.
Gross margin rose $26 million to $598.8 million, with the margin rate up 100 basis points to 38.8%, driven by merchandise margin gains and fixed-cost leverage.
Operating income was $48.1 million, or 3.1% of sales, down from $49.8 million, or 3.3%, in Q1 of fiscal 2024. Adjusted operating income rose to $70.3 million, or 4.6% of sales, from $57.8 million, or 3.8%, a year earlier.
Signet used $175.3 million in operating cash, up from $158.2 million the previous year. Cash and equivalents totaled $264.1 million at quarter-end, down from $729.3 million due to debt retirements and share buybacks. Inventory rose about 1% to $2 billion.
SIG declared a 32-cent quarterly dividend for the second quarter, payable August 22 to shareholders of record July 25, with the ex-dividend date also on July 25.
The company repurchased 2.1 million shares for $117.4 million in the quarter and bought an additional 235,000 shares for $15 million through June 2. Nearly $600 million remains available for share repurchases.
&#8220;We delivered positive same-store sales growth each month of the quarter, and into May, by bolstering our offerings at key price points and continuing the evolution of our assortment. Our three largest brands – Kay, Zales, and Jared – all saw sequential comp sales improvement from the fourth quarter on higher margins, highlighting the impact of our outsized focus on our larger brands,&#8221; stated J.K. Symancyk, Chief Executive Officer.
&#8220;Given our positive performance, we are increasing the low end and maintaining the high end of our Fiscal 2026 operating guidance. This outlook reflects the current macro environment and current tariffs as well as on track cost savings initiatives. Further, we are raising our adjusted EPS guidance to reflect the repurchase of more than 5% of outstanding shares year to date,&#8221; commented Joan Hilson, Chief Operating and Financial Officer.
Signet raised its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $6.57 billion to $6.80 billion, up from $6.53 billion to $6.80 billion, compared with the consensus estimate of $6.69 billion.
The company increased its adjusted EPS forecast to $7.70 to $9.38, up from $7.31 to $9.10, versus the consensus of $8.45. It expects adjusted EBITDA between $615 million and $695 million, slightly higher than the prior range of $605 million to $695 million.
For the second quarter, Signet projects revenue of $1.47 billion to $1.51 billion, above the $1.34 billion estimate, and adjusted EBITDA of $53 million to $73 million.
